Below is a list of frequently asked questions, which we hope will help you understand more about our classes and the Body Lab experience.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, feel free to Email us or call 408.230.6471
What do I wear to class?
You can wear any style of workout gear that feels comfortable. We suggest that you wear something that is not too loose fitting (baggy sweats don't really work). We highly recommend you wear something stretchy and closer fitting to the body. All of our classes are done in bare feet.
Do you have mats or should I bring my own?
For sanitary reasons, you are encouraged to bring your own mat. Body Lab does offer loaner mats for use, in case you forget.
Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?
Absolutely not. The whole point is to come to yoga class to become flexible. There are many ways in which you can use props to help you through your limitations until your body starts to change. Yoga can be a slower process, but the results are worth waiting for.
What's the difference between Pilates and yoga?
Many people who enjoy yoga also like Pilates. Pilates focuses mainly on core conditioning.
What is Pilates?
Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates. It is a system that develops balanced strength in the body. Pilates strengthens your core, increases your flexibility, improves your mental focus and body awareness. It creates a body that is longer, leaner and stronger. Long time Pilates practitioners move with a balanced grace and ease.
What does Core Strength mean?
Core strength does not mean being able to do a lot of sit ups. The core strength we refer to in Pilates is connecting to the deeper abdominal muscles, learning how to coordinate and balance the strength of the other abdominal muscles to create a stable torso and spine. Many structural imbalances and dysfunctional patterns of movement can be corrected through Pilates training.
